We have an ambitious project, which is to commemorate all those who worked, trained and served at RAF Ramsbury, during WW2, and lived or were billeted in the surrounding towns and villages.
On November 10th, 2018, we will be planting saplings donated by the Woodland Trust in a small wood next to the airfield. We have the cub scouts and primary school children helping the adults - we could do with a few more! There will be a plaque to remember the fallen of two world wars set among the trees.
In May 2019, we will have the commemoration ceremony at the airfield to unveil an Information board, and a memorial stone on the main runway, and we are planning to have the re-enactors, a brass band, guests and visitors to give thanks for all those who served and took part in the D-Day Landings to free Europe from tyranny.
There is a talk and exhibition on 24th October, in Ramsbury Royal British Legion Hall. Guest speakers Mr Mike Relph and Mr Roger Day.
