This is the definitive website for the Parish of Lambourn. The parish is made up of Lambourn, Upper Lambourn, Eastbury, Woodland St Mary and Lambourn Woodlands. The village of Lambourn is located in Berkshire near the source of the river Lambourn on the beautiful chalk downlands of England. The website is managed by and for the residents of Lambourn on a voluntary basis with support from local sponsors and organisations.
Lambourn is a working village and is famous for its association with the training of the world's finest race horses. There are over 1500 horses in training in the Lambourn valley with over 50 Racing Yards. The springy downland turf make the perfect gallops and the large uninterrupted open spaces create an ideal environment to breed and train horses. The Betfair Lambourn Open Day held on Good Friday every year is a great opportunity to experience the horses close up. Another major event in the valley is the Lambourn Festival comprising of many events in the summer including the Lambourn Carnival Horse Show. A monthly Parish magazine called Village Views is available, crammed full of current information and interesting articles about the village and the parish - this is a must read for anyone in Lambourn. Lambourn today is a thriving and busy place at the crossroads of the B4001 and the B4000 in Berkshire, England. Shops and businesses line the High Street leading up to the Market Place where the weekly market is held.
