A fitting tribute was paid to one of Lambourn's much loved and respected gentlemen this week when the new houses built on land adjacent to his home and where his coal yard stood, were named Bodman Close. So many residents in the village were delighted to see that George's name was used for the new houses.
George, born in the house in which he still lives is now is in his 80's and is a well-known figure in the village, everyone knows George or knows of him, and he always greets everyone with a touch of his hat and a cheery good morning.
Lewis Bodman had operated the Coal Merchants since the First World War and George and his brother Louis took over the business, L.J Bodman & Sons, when their father died. Sadly Louis died in 2003.
